Designed for Respirator Fit Testing
The patented VeriFit® Irritant Smoke Generator is designed to simplify qualitative respirator fit testing. Its integrated design eliminates the need to handle traditional glass smoke tubes, while the durable plastic construction helps reduce hazards associated with broken glass.
A small, attached bellows allows the administrator to generate a controlled amount of irritant smoke during the fit testing procedure while helping minimize unnecessary smoke exposure.
OSHA-Accepted Qualitative Fit Testing Method
Irritant smoke is an OSHA-accepted qualitative fit testing agent and differs from qualitative methods that rely on the test subject identifying a particular taste or smell.
Other qualitative fit testing agents, including isoamyl acetate (banana oil), saccharin, and Bitrex®, depend on the test subject's ability to detect the challenge agent. Irritant smoke instead produces an involuntary irritation response when leakage is detected.
Always perform respirator fit testing according to applicable OSHA requirements, manufacturer instructions, and your organization's respiratory protection program.
Simple, Self-Contained Design
Unlike several other qualitative fit testing methods, VeriFit does not require a collection of additional testing equipment. There are:
-
No nebulizers
-
No pumps
-
No mixing jars
-
No batteries
-
No test masks or probes
-
No test hoods
-
No components to calibrate or warm up
-
No reusable components requiring sterilization or cleaning
This self-contained design makes VeriFit well suited for occupational health programs, industrial facilities, safety departments, healthcare organizations, laboratories, training programs, and other workplaces requiring respirator fit testing.
Important – N95 Fit Testing
VeriFit Irritant Smoke Generators should NOT be used for fit testing N95 filtering facepiece respirators. Always verify that the respirator being tested and the selected fit testing protocol are compatible before beginning a fit test.
