PORTACAL® Methyl Mercaptan (CH₃SH) Calibration Gas is designed for the calibration, bump testing, and verification of compatible methyl mercaptan gas detectors, CH₃SH sensors, and monitoring instruments.

Methyl mercaptan (CH₃SH), also known as methanethiol, is a colorless, flammable gas with a strong, distinctive odor. It may be encountered in petroleum refining, natural gas operations, chemical manufacturing, pulp and paper processing, wastewater treatment, and other industrial environments where accurate methyl mercaptan monitoring may be required.

PORTACAL® Methyl Mercaptan Calibration Gas provides a known concentration of methyl mercaptan to help verify that compatible CH₃SH sensors, portable gas detectors, fixed gas detection systems, and industrial gas monitoring instruments are functioning and responding properly.

Calibration Gas

  • Gas: Methyl Mercaptan (CH₃SH)

  • Also Known As: Methanethiol

  • Gas Type: Reactive Gas

  • Cylinder Material: Aluminum Alloy

  • Valve Inlet: 5/8"-18 UNF (C-10)

  • Regulator: 71-Series

  • Application: Methyl mercaptan sensor calibration and bump testing

  • Compatible Equipment: Appropriate methyl mercaptan gas detection and monitoring instruments

Common Applications

This methyl mercaptan calibration gas is suitable for compatible equipment used in methyl mercaptan detector calibration, methanethiol sensor calibration, gas detector bump testing, petroleum refining, natural gas operations, chemical processing, pulp and paper facilities, wastewater treatment, industrial hygiene, environmental monitoring, occupational exposure monitoring, and workplace safety applications.

Always verify the required gas concentration, cylinder connection, flow rate, and regulator compatibility for your specific gas detection instrument before use.

Cylinder Material Notice

Steel cylinders are for non-reactive calibration gases only. Aluminum cylinders are for reactive calibration gases only, regardless of cylinder size. Please verify the gas type and cylinder material when selecting your calibration gas.

Tip: Check the Specifications tab for a visual chart of available cylinder sizes, materials, pressures, dimensions, valve inlets, and regulator compatibility.
