Accurate oxygen monitoring is critical in confined spaces and other environments where oxygen levels may fall outside normal atmospheric conditions. OSHA defines an oxygen-deficient atmosphere as one containing less than 19.5% oxygen by volume. Normal atmospheric oxygen is approximately 20.9%, while oxygen-enriched environments can increase combustion hazards.
